2017 Fintan Scotland Fan Tour

From the charming cities such as Edinburgh and Glasgow, historical sites, great scenery, shopping and pubs, this is going to be an amazing tour with the band Fintan. If you’ve been to Ireland on one of Fintan’s tours, you know it’s an amazing time. Now the band is doing its first Scotland Fan Tour, so join them in the spring of 2017. Group Airfare SOLD OUT! You may book your own air out of any city to meet us in Edinburgh. See group air schedule below. Join the tour at the Edinburgh airport. If your flight arrives later than group you can make arrangements to catch up with the group in Edinburgh or transfer to IBIS Edinburgh South Bridge Hotel.

Join the band on our group air from Cincinnati or Columbus, or book your own air from any city. You may pay more or less, but you won’t be with the band and the main group. 
Group Air Information: 

2 groups  – 1 from Cincinnati & 1 from Columbus.  20 on each flight.  They meet in JFK and all continue on the same flight to Edinburgh together.  Not possible to get all from same regional city – not enough space for group of 40. Both are one-stops.

Sat., April 22: Depart USA for overnight flight to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Sun. April 23: Arrive Edinburgh this morning and meet our guide, who will show us the major sites, including The Royal Mile & Georgian New Town and Old Town. We’ll tour inside the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the 16th century royal palace and abbey, as well as view and photo op outside the modern Scotland Parliament building, where the issue of Scottish independence still lives in spite of the vote in 2014. We’ll climb up Calton Hill in a lovely park for amazing views of the city and beyond.  Lunch will be on your own at one of the many pubs and restaurants in the city. We’ll check into our hotel for two nights, the Ibis Hotel City Center Bridge Street in the heart of Edinburgh. We’ll have dinner at the hotel. (D)

Mon. April 24: After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll visit Edinburgh Castle for a guided tour, and the rest of the day and evening are at your leisure to explore, shop, visit a pub or three and have dinner. Fintan will have its first concert tonight at location & time TBD. (B)

Tues. April 25: Depart Edinburgh and head for Inverness .We’ll also do a photo stop to see the modern sculpture of The Kelpies, massive metallic horses next to the highway. Our next stop will be at the beautiful Stirling Castle followed by lunch on your own in Stirling City Centre. Then we head to a tour and tasting at one of Scotland’s top whisky distillerie, Blair Athol. Onward to Inverness, where we will then check in at our home for two nights, the lovely and historic Royal Highland Hotel, where we’ll have a group dinner. Wed. April 26: We’ll go tohighland reign_scotland_020 one of the most photographed sites in Scotland, Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness, to tour the castle, then take a boat ride on Loch Ness and try to spot the monster. After lunch on your own in Inverness, we visit the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre, then the nearby Clava Cairns pre-historic standing stones, inspiration for the stones on the Starz hit series Outlander. this evening Fintan plays from 8-11 pm at Tooth and Claw Pub in Inverness. (B)

Thurs. April 27: Depart Inverness for a scenic excursion down to Glasgow, with a stop at Glenfinnan at the head of Loch Shiel, where we’ll see the poignant monument to the 1745 and final Jacobite Rising led by Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonny Prince Charlie) which effectively ended the clan system in the Scottish Highlands. We’ll also get a view of the railroad viaduct, better known as the track used by the Hogwarts Express taking Harry Potter and his fellow students to school. We’ll stop for a lunch on your own at Tyndrum and the we’ll head into Glasgow for an early evening arrival at The Jury’s Inn in Glasgow City Centre.  That night we will walk to Blackfriars Pub for group dinner and Fintan Gig. Fri. April 28: We’ll do a Glasgow orientation tour and include a visit to beautiful Glasgow Cathedral, dedicated to the city’s patron saint, St. Mungo. It was consecrated in the 1100s but finished around 300 years later. The Transport Museum displays the city’s transportation history including a 1938 Glasgow street scene, including vehicles and an Underground station. There’s also the Clyde Room’s model boats. The afternoon will be free to explore the city. Glasgow also has great shopping and a lively music scene in this this vibrant city. (B)     
Sat. April 29: Transfer from hotel to the Edinburgh airport (45-60 minutes) this morning for our flights (group air departs 10:10am) home, arriving later today (B)

Land Only Tour Payments: Send $300 to guarantee your space. This deposit is refundable until Sept. 1, 2016. Suggested 2nd Payment of $600 due Nov 1, 2016.  Final payment for land portion of the tour is due Feb. 4, 2017.

Group Air: Guests who have committed to our group air must send an additional $600 toward the group air by July 1, 2016. The balance for your land and air tour will be due by Feb. 4, 2017.
